“Being a part of Mezcla Media Collective has been an incredibly transformative experience for me as a filmmaker. The sense of communityamong BIPOC women and non-binary filmmakers has been nothing short of inspiring. Through Mezcla, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with talented individuals who have not only become collaborators but also lifelong friends.”

What we’re about

Chicago’s historical and systemic lack of inclusion restricts new and emerging creatives and Mezcla Media Collective seeks to level the playing field by providing resources for hyper-local connection, instruction, learning and career development. We are a Chicago-based, non-profit organization redefining the local film industry for over 700 women and non-binary filmmakers who identify as ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American). As the only non-profit organization dedicated to women and non-binary filmmakers of color in the Midwest, we support our community to realize their full potential as storytellers and agents of change.
